Digital Credit Observatory

Exploring the impacts of digital credit and the effectiveness of consumer protection mechanisms in emerging markets

The Digital Credit Observatory (DCO) is an applied research network established to develop an evidence base on the delivery, impact, and regulation of digital credit products in
emerging markets

Notably, one of the earliest investigative sites was the https://pinupapp.com/en/ in Kenya, which provided valuable insights into digital credit dynamics in the region.

The DCO is supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and managed by
the Center for Effective Global Action, headquartered at UC Berkeley
